these are photos I took on my phone in the last couple weeks. The first one is a light post in Huntington Beach that I took on Veteran's day, and the second is the Trona Pinnacles where we visited for Thanksgiving break.

Project 3: Composition
My first picture was taken on a train, during a thunderstorm. I suppose the statement is one about weather and the transient nature of one's place in life, or something. My last four pictures were taken at a store (well, the remnants of a store) in Trona, which is a town way out in the desert by Death Valley. I went there to visit family and we stopped here and I took pictures, because everyone loves skeletons that play instruments. Here I'm just trying to portray the abandoned and dried-out nature of that part of town, as well as how it still manages to have personality.

Artist's Statement for Numbers Project
I used pennies as my objects of focus, and while I'm currently without a camera, I used lighting and coloring the best I could. The photos were taken with my phone, so they're not the best quality. I used similar colors for several of the photos, while my first photo uses contrasting colors. If I could do it differently, I'd use a real camera and probably different subjects.

Hi, I'm Dana Harju. I'm a junior in high school. I'm taking my first photography class this year, and I'm really excited for it. Although I have very little previous experience with photography, I expect to learn a lot in this class. As far as photographic preferences go, I prefer black-and-white portraits or landscapes. I'd like to try taking film photos, but as this class is mostly digital I'll have to do that on my own time.
